“Who are you? What do you dance? Be Yourself, Never Be Bored!” - Intermediate Workshop
Instructors: Guest Instructors, Amy and David Loomis from Morgantown, WV
Date: Saturday, September 26
Lesson: 12:00 PM - 3:30PM with a 30 minutes break. Please arrive 10 minutes early to check-in and stretch. Arriving more than 20 minutes after the lesson starts may be denied entry! See our FAQs page for more information about attendance policies.
Prerequisites: Know the basic and core moves of 6- and 8-count Lindy Hop, know the basic and at least some core moves of 20/s or 30’s style Charleston. If you also know the basic and some core moves of Balboa and/or Collegiate Shag and/or St. Louis Shag, that’s even better, but not required.
Description: Ever feel like you’ve run out of moves while you’re social dancing? In this workshop you’ll learn how to (almost) never get bored while you social dance, by dancing more like yourself, and less like someone who does moves. You'll traverse your way through multiple footwork rhythms, explore some origins of Lindy Hop footwork and patterns, and gain confidence in dancing like You.
After this workshop, you’ll have the skills needed to build your own basic footwork, and have practiced exploring a framework of movement that opens the door to endless variation and novelty during your social dances.
There will be some pre-workshop homework sent out by Amy and David (don’t worry, if this workshop topic sounds good to you, you’ll enjoy the homework!). This workshop is for dancers who feel like they have a fairly large vocabulary of movement and want to make their own moves while social dancing.
Price: $35 online. $45 at-the-door.
